IGI President Arun G. Rao Quoted in The Washington Post Regarding U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit’s Decision Involving the Use of Filter Teams

IGI President Arun G. Rao was quoted in The Washington Post’s coverage of a recent U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit decision involving the use of filter teams in an article entitled, “Investigative tool used in law firm searches at risk, federal prosecutors fear.” An excerpt follows:

Arun Rao, another former federal prosecutor, said until the 4th Circuit decision, most federal investigators would have assumed the use of a filter team, authorized by a magistrate judge and following preapproved procedures, would survive a legal challenge.

“I suspect that this decision will burden magistrate judges,” he said, “substantially delay sensitive investigations, and significantly increase costs to the government.”
