IGI President Arun G. Rao Quoted in The Washington Post Regarding U.S. Supreme Court’s Decision in United States v. Davis, Involving Constitutionality of Federal Criminal Statute 18 U.S.C. § 924(c)(3)(B)

IGI President Arun G. Rao was quoted in The Washington Post’s coverage of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in United States v. Davis, in an article entitled, “Divided Supreme Court strikes down gun law provision deemed unfair to violent criminals.”  An excerpt follows:

“Arun Rao, a former federal prosecutor in Maryland, said the ruling “deprives federal prosecutors of a valuable and frequently-used tool to combat violent crime.”

“Congress should now provide a legislative fix through a more carefully crafted statute that would allow prosecutors to continue to seek longer sentence for dangerous violent criminals while avoiding the vagueness that the Supreme Court’s majority criticized,” Rao said in an email.”
